Preamble
Welcome!
Indivisible Puyallup is the local chapter of Indivisible, a national grassroots movement that empowers communities to drive meaningful change. We believe in the power of collective action to shape democracy and champion the issues that matter most—locally and nationally.
Join us in building a more engaged, equitable, and responsive future—starting right here, right now, in our community.

To empower community members to take action, advocate for progressive policies, and strengthen democratic institutions. We communicate, educate, and collaborate, to create lasting change that reflects our shared values of equity, justice, and inclusion.

Article I:
Puyallup Indivisible
Indivisible Puyallup (IP) is dedicated to the organization, education, and mobilization of local individuals to advocate for progressive policies, government transparency, and ensure our elected officials are held accountable.
Article II:
Leadership Structure
The leadership team shall consist of the following elected positions.
Chair

Develops agendas and reserves space for meetings and events.

Leads two general meetings per month.

Attends Indivisible State meetings and reports back to members.

Attends Indivisible National meetings and reports back to members

Posts relevant updates from state and national organizations.
-
Responds to emails and assists in organizing IP actions and activities.

Attends monthly leadership meetings.
Vice Chair
-
Supports the Chair in all duties.

Leads meetings when the Chair is unavailable.

Attends monthly leadership meetings.
Secretary
-
Records and organizes meeting minutes.
-
Distributes notes via IP social platforms (Website, Slack, Facebook).
-
Sends notes to leadership for review before posting.

Drafts thank-you notes and official correspondence as needed.

Maintains attendance records.

Attends monthly leadership meetings.
Treasurer
-
Oversees financial compliance with Indivisible National via ActBlue.

Manages IP debit card for approved expenses.
-
Maintains accurate records of all transactions.

Accounting or financial experience preferred.

Attends monthly leadership meetings.
Member-at-Large
-
Attends two monthly meetings and monthly leadership meetings.

Provides support to other leadership roles as needed.
Article III:
Committees
Committees are volunteer-driven groups working toward specific goals. They operate semi-autonomously under leadership oversight and maintain access to group resources.

Article IV:
Quorum
A quorum shall be established by:
-
Option 1: 51% of the voting body + 1 Leader
-
Option 2: All Committee Leaders + 51% of IP Leadership
-
Option 3: Unanimous agreement by elected Leadership
Note: The voting body may veto Option 3 by simple majority.
Simple Majority = 50% + 1 w/ quorum. Super Majority = 80% w/ quorum.
For votes in Zoom meetings, voting members must be identified by showing their face on camera.
Article V:
Membership Expectations
Voting Eligibility

Attend at least two meetings (one in-person, one online) and one social event (e.g., protest, social gathering, or IP action) every six months.

Eligibility windows:
-
January 1 – June 30

July 1 – December 31

Eligibility must be achieved in the prior window.
Example: To vote in July endorsements, requirements must be met between January 1 and June 30.
Example: To vote for new leadership in March, requirements must be met between July 1 and December 31.-
Votes during the first eligibility window (2026 Jan.-June) will not require meeting expectations in the previous window, but expectations must be met prior to voting.

Article VI:
Code of Conduct & Censure
Members acting contrary to these expectations may be censured by Super Majority vote (with quorum).

First Offense: Warning

Second Offense: Loss of voting eligibility for current window

Third Offense: Removal from membership

Attendance records shall be maintained by the Secretary.
Article VII:
Amendments
This Charter may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the voting membership, provided that proposed amendments are submitted in writing at least two weeks prior to the vote.
Article VIII:
Term Limits
Leadership positions shall be held for one-year terms, renewable by majority vote. No individual may serve more than three consecutive terms in the same position. Terms must begin by the end of March.
