Moving forward with a united message is just as important as fighting back.
The idea is that Indivisible has some real good momentum and voice right now. I believe we can utilize this strength to build out a communication network to reach beyond our own information silos and get to the independent voters and disgruntled republicans. These groups will be needed to win any upcoming elections, especially with the massive voter suppression and election tampering.
A big lie – Americans are very divided. Not True!
It is true, we Americans no longer share a narrative, however, we clearly do share a common thread ‘if’ we refocus from opinions to working class facts. Basic living conditions for the working class don’t support the narrative that Americans are divided. A super majority of Americans share the threat of climate change, wealth inequality, corporate power consolidation, lack of democratic representation or accountability. A rigged capitalist system results in denying the working class a fair chance to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. What humans need for survival are now owned by the rich and powerful as for-profit commodities. Public good is never in the conversation. Use of resources for the common good is not a consideration. The Working-Class Super Majority (approximately 85% of households under 200k per year.) share the same priority issues. Good jobs, food & housing security, healthcare, education, public safety, fair elections. We can sum this up as representation and accountability. These issues are basic to survival and the freedom to thrive. This thread unites our WCSM group in fact, but not opinion. This group is united by facts. The facts exist, the group exists, the only thing missing is unity and organization. We must go on the offensive with facts. Counterpunching with the disinformation heavyweights is an important separate battle.
Message: Working Class representation now. We are united. Our issues are the center!
Issues: Good jobs, Food & Housing, Healthcare, Education, Public Safety, Fair Elections.
Communication: The Indivisible platform is well positioned to start promoting!
Strategy: Coordination & Organization depend on the skill and knowledge of the team. Creating a coalition with reach and ability to deliver a consistent unifying message is at the heart of this action!
From Heather Cox-Richardson today:
The way to tell if the United States has crossed the line from democracy to competitive authoritarianism, the political scientists explain, is to see if people feel safe opposing those in power. Can they safely protest? Publish criticism of the government? Support opposition candidates? Or does taking a stand against those in power lead to punishment either by the government or by government supporters?
I like your message...and really we are all in this together...not just the working class...
